Mr. & Mrs. Merry, residents of a large rural cottage in Somerset, were confronted with the issue of a worn-out driveway surrounding their property. The existing path around the cottage had suffered from erosion and wear, diminishing the overall appeal of their property and posing safety risks due to uneven surfaces.

The couple were looking for a long-lasting, simple way of completely transforming the tired-looking driveway, so we proposed starting with a tarmac driveway to completely even out the surface and then adding resin on top to enhance the aesthetic appeal. We didn’t want to distract from the charm of this old-English cottage, so we decided resin would be a great option, as there are plenty of neutral resin colours to choose from that would complement the property perfectly.

As part of the transformation, we also installed granite edges along the finished path to help it blend into the surrounding grassy areas, whilst also adding more character. The Merry’s were very pleased with the outcome and how much the resin driveway brightened up the overall look of their cottage.

Why Choose Resin Driveways?

Would you like to completely transform your driveway? Here’s why you should consider resin:

  • Durability: Resin driveways are known for their robustness, ability to withstand vehicles and heavy foot traffic, alongside varying weather conditions, to ensure long-lasting quality. If you live rurally like the Merry’s, perhaps within a farm environment, resin can be a great option if you tend to use a lot of heavy duty machinery.
  • Low maintenance: These driveways require minimal upkeep, making them an excellent choice for homeowners seeking a hassle-free solution.
  • Aesthetic appeal: Resin driveways offer a smooth, brighter appearance that can significantly enhance the overall look of a property. This surface can easily elevate both modern homes and more traditional cottages, like the Merry’s.
  • Safety: The even surface provided by tarmac and resin application reduces the risk of tripping or falling, as well as any damage to vehicles, ensuring a safe and secure pathway for homeowners and visitors.
Ultimately, the team at Outdoor Home Improvements were very happy with how the resin bound driveway looked and how it addressed the erosion issue, whilst also adding value and charm to the Merry’s countryside home.
