Are the steps to your property or patio looking tired? Worse, have they become a trip hazard? Or do you require disability access to your property? Resin surfacing is so versatile in its application that it’s easy to design resin steps that help complement the style of your house or patio or create a contrasting effect. The same goes for wheelchair ramps and other adapted mobility access.
Besides the fact that resin steps look beautiful, their other great benefit is safety for users. And the good news is that installing resin steps may not be as expensive as you’d think. Steps are one of the most common places for slips and trips around a home, especially when older concrete or stone treads become worn, uneven or slick in wet weather. Resin steps solve that problem with a smooth, seamless surface and a naturally non-slip finish, thanks to the glass dust blended into every mix. The result is a set of steps that feels secure underfoot in all conditions, which is why resin is such a popular choice for steps that see plenty of daily use.
Resin for steps is also fully permeable, so rainwater drains straight through rather than collecting on the treads or freezing into an icy hazard in winter. Combined with the even, stone free surface, that makes resin steps genuinely safer for children, elderly relatives and anyone with limited mobility. Where access is a priority, we can also form gently graded ramps alongside or in place of steps to suit wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Beyond the safety benefits, resin on steps simply looks smart. The continuous finish wraps cleanly over each tread and riser with no visible joins, giving a crisp, modern look that can either match or deliberately contrast with your resin patio, resin pathway or resin bound driveway. It is a straightforward way to tidy up a tired flight of steps and lift the appearance of the whole approach to your home.
Installing resin steps may be more affordable than you would expect, and in many cases the surface can be applied over sound existing steps. Our qualified surveyors will assess your steps during a free site visit, talk through your options and prepare a no obligation written quotation.
Because resin is so versatile, resin steps can be designed to fit the character of almost any property. Whether you want them to blend seamlessly into an existing surface or to create a contrasting feature that draws the eye, the wide choice of aggregate colours and blends makes it easy to achieve the look you are after. Warm, natural tones suit traditional homes, while cooler greys and silvers work beautifully with contemporary designs.
Steps rarely sit in isolation, so it makes sense to think about how they connect to the surfaces around them. Many homeowners choose to carry the same resin finish across a resin pool surround, a resin balcony and their steps so that everything flows together as one coordinated scheme rather than a collection of separate materials. You can see the full palette on our resin colour range page.
Resin steps share all the practical advantages of our wider resin bound surfacing, including excellent durability and very low maintenance. The tightly bound surface gives weeds little chance to establish in the joints, and keeping the steps looking their best usually takes nothing more than an occasional sweep and a wash down. There are no loose stones to kick about and no crumbling edges to repair.
As a family run business working across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset since 2011, we design and install resin steps that are built to last. Our surveyors are there to advise rather than to sell, so you can expect honest, practical guidance on what will work best for your property, followed by a tailored quote with no obligation.
