Resin bound swimming pool surrounds are a designer’s dream. Because of its versatility and unique features, resin is now widely considered as the surface of choice for outdoor and indoor swimming pool surrounds.

A swimming pool surround has to do more than look good. It needs to stay safe and comfortable in exactly the conditions that catch other surfaces out, when it is wet, splashed and baking in the sun. Resin bound surfacing is ideally suited to the job, which is why it has become such a popular choice for both outdoor and indoor pool surrounds. The glass dust worked into every mix gives a naturally non-slip finish that stays grippy even when soaking wet.
Comfort matters just as much as grip around a pool. A resin bound pool surround stays noticeably cooler than many hard surfaces in direct sun, so it will not scorch bare feet on a hot day, and the smooth, seamless finish has no loose stones or sharp edges to catch swimmers as they climb in and out. There are no wobbly slabs or cracked joints to trip over, just one continuous, even surface all the way around the water.
Because resin pool surrounds are fully permeable, splashed water and rain drain straight through the surface rather than pooling around the poolside. That keeps the area safer and reduces the standing water that can make traditional surfaces slippery. The permeable finish also complies with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) regulations, and the tightly bound surface gives weeds very little opportunity to take hold.
Resin can often be laid over an existing sound base, which keeps installation efficient and tidy. Our qualified surveyors will assess your poolside during a free site visit and advise on the best approach for your project, before preparing a no obligation quotation.
A resin pool surround is a genuine designer’s surface as well as a practical one. With a wide range of aggregate colours and blends available, you can choose a finish that frames the water beautifully, complements the surrounding garden and ties in with your home. Colours and textures can even be combined to mark out different zones around the pool, such as a lounging area or a route through to the house, all without the need for signage or changes in material. The same non-slip finish is equally at home on a nearby resin balcony or terrace overlooking the water.
Maintenance around a pool is refreshingly simple with resin. The surface is stain resistant and easy to keep clean, and debris such as leaves washes away easily, so keeping it in pristine condition usually takes nothing more than a quick power wash a couple of times a year. Unsightly drains, covers and filters can also be blended into the surface so they sit discreetly within the design rather than interrupting it.
Resin bound surfacing is also extremely hardwearing and UV stable, so a pool surround keeps its colour and finish year after year rather than fading or cracking. With proper care it offers a life expectancy well in excess of 25 years, making it a sound long term investment for any pool area. Many homeowners choose to extend the same finish out to connecting resin patios, resin pathways, resin steps or a resin bound driveway for a seamless look across the whole property.
