Outdoor Home Improvements were delighted to be appointed to deliver the resin bound driveway and parking surfaces across a new build housing development in Bristol. Working on a live construction site brings its own demands, and the developer needed a surfacing partner who could work to programme, coordinate around other trades and hand over a finish that would help the completed homes sell.

What Did The Resin Driveway Project Involve?

The development is made up of a group of newly built detached houses, finished in white render with brick plinth detailing and enclosed by close board timber fencing. Every property needed its own generous driveway and parking area, and the developer wanted a surface that would look immaculate on handover and still be performing years later.

The brief called for one consistent surface across the whole site rather than a patchwork of materials. Because several of the properties sit side by side across a shared frontage, the surfacing also had to make the boundary between neighbouring properties readable without adding kerbs or fencing that would close the open frontage in.

How Did Outdoor Home Improvements Help?

Our team managed the surfacing package from start to finish, which included:

  • Completing all groundwork and sub-base preparation to each property, laying and consolidating a permeable base ready to receive the resin
  • Installing a warm golden resin bound surface across every driveway and parking area for a clean, uniform finish site wide
  • Running a charcoal granite sett course between the two central properties to define the boundary while keeping the frontage open
  • Edging the perimeter of each driveway in matching charcoal setts for a crisp, hard-wearing border against the lawns and planted beds
  • Forming falls across the full surface so that surface water drains away from the new houses correctly
  • Working around temporary site fencing, deliveries and other trades to keep the developer’s programme on track

The finished frontage looks superb. The golden aggregate lifts beautifully against the white render and brick detailing of the new homes, and the seamless surface makes each frontage feel noticeably more generous than a block paved alternative would have done.

Resin Bound Driveways for New Build Developments

A resin bound driveway is an excellent fit for new build housing. It is fully permeable, so it satisfies SuDS requirements without additional soakaways or drainage runs, and it goes down quickly and cleanly at the end of a build programme. There are no joints for weeds to find, the smooth surface is easy going for prams and wheelchairs, and the range of aggregate colours means the finish can be matched to the architecture of any scheme. Our guides to commercial resin bound surfacing and resin bound driveways cover specification and durability in more detail.
